From a campus access fight to a national alliance

Griffin Ambitions began with a single, stubborn problem. As an undergraduate at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana, Jacob Griffin ran into walls of bureaucracy, long waitlists, and structural red tape while trying to help his peers reach the campus counseling center. Rather than accept it, he organized a student task force, brought data on college mental-health trends directly to the administration, and pushed for change — an effort that measurably increased the number of students served at the counseling center.

That “system-hack” approach became the organization's model: connect every stakeholder — trustees, student affairs, faculty, legislators, and the student body — to drive top-down policy change backed by bottom-up student pressure. Jacob went on to found an independent 501(c)(3), serve on the Indiana Suicide Prevention Advisory Council, work alongside Youth M.O.V.E. Indiana, and run a chapter of Active Minds.

Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Award for Health Equity

Jacob's work was recognized with the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Award for Health Equity, presented through Youth MOVE National to honor individuals using systems change to advance health equity in their communities. The recognition affirmed a simple proof of concept: focused student advocacy can move institutions that seem immovable.

Today, that conviction guides a national organization — but the mission has always been bigger than any one person. Griffin Ambitions is sustained by the educators, clinicians, advocates, and partners who turn campus pressure into lasting institutional change across all 50 states.

Governance & how we work

Griffin Ambitions Ltd is a 501(c)(3) public charity (EIN 81-1945532) governed by a Board of Directors and guided by partnerships with counseling professionals, higher-education administrators, and student advocates. Our strategy rests on three pillars that keep the organization focused and accountable.

Systems-change activism

Opening access by working the machinery of the university — not just raising awareness around it.

Resource democratization

Every toolkit and tool is free and open-access, so budget never decides which students get help.

Legislative accountability

Turning grassroots campus pressure into durable federal and institutional policy backing.
