Our Commitment to Everyone
As a nonprofit dedicated to student wellbeing, we believe access to mental health information and advocacy resources must be barrier-free. We are committed to meeting or exceeding WCAG 2.1 Level AA standards across all pages and interactive tools.
1. Conformance Standards
We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with disabilities, including visual, auditory, cognitive, and motor impairments.
Our website also aligns with:
- Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act (US federal accessibility standards)
- ADA Title III guidance on digital accessibility for places of public accommodation
- WAI-ARIA 1.1 for dynamic and interactive components
2. Accessibility Features
⌨️ Keyboard Navigation
All interactive elements are reachable and operable via keyboard. Focus indicators are clearly visible throughout.
🔤 Screen Reader Support
Semantic HTML, ARIA labels, and landmark roles are used throughout. Content is structured for compatibility with NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver, and TalkBack.
🎨 Color & Contrast
All text meets or exceeds a 4.5:1 contrast ratio. Color is never used as the sole means of conveying information.
📱 Responsive Design
Pages reflow properly at all viewport widths from 320px up. Zoom to 200% without loss of content or functionality.
🎞️ Reduced Motion
All animations and transitions respect the prefers-reduced-motion media query. No flashing content that could trigger seizures.
🔗 Skip Navigation
A "Skip to main content" link is available at the top of every page for keyboard and screen reader users.
🖼️ Alternative Text
All meaningful images include descriptive alt text. Decorative images are marked with empty alt attributes.
📋 Form Accessibility
All form fields have visible labels and descriptive error messages. Required fields are identified programmatically and visually.
3. Known Limitations
While we strive for full compliance, some areas are still being improved:
- Some older PDF resources may not be fully screen-reader accessible. We are working to remediate these documents. Contact us to request an accessible version of any PDF.
- The interactive campus services finder uses third-party map data that may have limited accessibility features depending on your assistive technology.
- Video content, when present, may not yet include closed captions or audio descriptions. We are prioritizing this for future content production.
4. Assistive Technology Compatibility
This website has been tested with the following assistive technologies:
- NVDA with Chrome and Firefox on Windows
- VoiceOver with Safari on macOS and iOS
- TalkBack with Chrome on Android
- Keyboard-only navigation in Chrome, Firefox, and Edge
We aim to maintain compatibility with commonly used assistive technologies and keep pace with updates to those tools.
5. Feedback & Contact
We welcome feedback on the accessibility of our website. If you encounter any barriers, please contact us and we will work to address the issue as quickly as possible. We aim to respond to accessibility concerns within 5 business days.

7. Review Schedule
This statement is reviewed and updated annually, or whenever significant changes are made to the website. Our development team conducts regular accessibility audits using automated tools (Axe, WAVE) supplemented by manual testing with assistive technologies.
